I'd say ask AbDuCt but he was graciously given a "90 day vacation" by the mods...

remember ruby on rails is just a mvc framework for ruby

ruby is the core language

whats your goal?

if you plan on building a site that u want to scale to a large site, such as going from a tiny social media site to something like facebook or twitter (very extreme example i know) i wouldnt touch RoR with a 10 foot pole.
its greate for a web development company that develops websites for a large client base, easy to get things up and running.

if you want a great scalable language i would suggest look at node.js

just looking for a high paying career, after a few years under a corporation i'll try to make my own probably.

javascript isn't strong enough for making modern games so.. :l my best result is ruby on rails with other gems

May want to pick up more than just a couple scripting languages if you want to make your own corp.

yeah, that'll be down the road.. i planned to be forced into learning other ones unwillingly.. i'm looking to developer bootcamps atm
