I do Asphalt Paving/Sealing.

I talked with some web designers here in Memphis Tn and they are hitting me with thousands of dollars in building me a website. I am already paying about 1500 per month in advertising so I'm trying to keep cost down as much as possible. I went to godaddy and bought a packagle, (hosting, url, editor) I know templates are frowned on but I felt like it was a step in the right direction.

Here's what I'm working with.

www.cpacmemphis.com

I own dreamweaver but have never used it.
I own cs6 and have some experience with it.

The site turned out pretty good IMO but I cant find it anywhere google, yahoo, etc. I was wondering if it is because of the hosting I chose or the editor? I'm not sure.

I'm wanting to be able to pull up on search engines and look professional.

If you guys have any suggestions It would really help me out

What you are asking for is Search Engine Optimization (SEO), and if done correctly will increase your ranking and thus show your page as a higher result when selected keywords are used in a search engine query. There are tons of material online for do-it-yourself SEO, but if you really want to look "professional" you should look to hire an SEO professional. Although, that can be a bit costly depending on the breadth of the work that is done.

I guess it is all up to your business needs. If the site suits your needs, and is cost effective keep it. If you intend to expand your business to include your website, then you will eventually want to drop the templates and look into something more robust. Don't go sink a bunch of capital into revamping a website if all you intend to do with it is advertise your brand. The current site can do that, you just need to get it indexed/ranked higher.

ok, well look up SEO.
off the top of my head heres a few things that would help:

-keywords in text bodies (construction, paving, your company name ect) - dont over do this or else google will in a sense blacklist you and pretty much ignore your website.
- hyperlinking from other sites. a good way to do this is to find other local businesses with websites and have a text link to eachother's website.
- social media. create a face book page, maybe a youtube channel, and make sure they link to your site.
therese a few im missing, but that should get you started.

another thing, SEO ranking can take several months (4-6) to really get good indexing, its not going to happen overnight.

^ this fellow makes a good point.

Watch a few tutorials on setting up wordpress, and you will miles ahead of where you are at.

I would advise not using dreamweaver in the "design view" if you do continue with dreamweaver.

I am also a TN local and it just so happens that I work as the lead developer for an internet marketing / web design company.
Granted, we do typically charge thousands of dollars, but I would be happy to do this as a personal project.

I will port your site to wordpress and get you started with some basic SEO stuff.
Then it's back in your hands, and if you ever decide you do want to invest in it and take it to the 'next level' then you can remember me!

Also, I would do a full backup of your site before making any changes.

If you want to see any of my work just let me know.
I've done well over 30 sites for local business here in the Franklin / Nashville area.
