So I know my basic HTML.. I think its PHP I would have to learn, and the question is: Will it take a lot of time and will PHP and html alone make this website (without thinking about the design..)

So I want to make a website, where you can: Create a profile, upload pictures and the pictures will be randomly displayed on the frontpage for other uses to rate... and in your profile you can see how your picture is getting rated by the other users..

I know this would be possible if I had all the time to learn everything etc..

but I'm very busy, and for you experienced guys, do you know if this could be something that could be done only working a few hours a week on.. mostly sundays.. probably ..

or is it too hardcore a project for a inexperienced person..


hope you understand where I'm coming from.. I really wanna get started but I don't want to jump into something I can't manage right now.

Since you have so few requirements, i think you can manage it. as a beginner, you should start small and add more over time.

it'll look like shit at first, but you'll manage to get it done. over time you can make it prettier and closer to your dream.

as carteblanche said, i would suggest doing something like:

write a boring static page (one that does not change) with some text and a picture using html.
then write rewrite the page, but have it created with php
then change the static picture to a random picture from a directory.
and so on until you got the features you want.

Yah you'll have to start over a lot but you will learn a lot!

trying to put up a opload function but first ill try to make a "profile" for the user, where the user then can opload.

aren't you glad you started? at this rate you'll be done by the end of the month.
