I have a project where I need to take the linux kernel, use make menuconfig, and alter the configuration file so that the kernel binary is as small as possible.

The only requirements are that I need to be able to use QEMU to load the kernel and a system image and also be able to use the command uname -a

Does anyone know any information that can guide me in the right direction for optimizing this kernel?

I knew that people had gotten them that small in the past, but yeah, I'm still impressed.
