I want to get a new laptop primarily for programming (C and Java), and I'm debating between

Samsung Ativ Book 9
Macbook Air

I'm leaning towards the Samsung, and I was also wondering if any of you have tried running linux + windows on the same laptop. Would you recommend it? I'd love to be able to use both Linux with Gnome and Windows 7

Thanks

I run mint and 7 on my laptop.

It was originally win 8 but I cleared it off.

Oddly enough, grub won't work correctly - it won't detect my windows partition.

I can still boot to it modifying the bios though, so it isn't a total loss...(likewise, I didn't overwrite the MBR or anything - it works)

I could solve this issue if I ever used win 7 on my laptop but I use it for school and I do almost all my work in vim so I just stay on the linux side :p

I would go with a cheap laptop if its for school though.....just IMO. More chances for it to be stolen/damaged etc....

e: Not to mention, you don't need huge specs for typical school projects.
