If you want a good test of your web dev skills i suggest building a website with the following features.

1. Database Back-End
2. User login + registration + members only area
3. Shopping cart
4. Dynamically generated pages
5. Forums
6. Image Gallery
7. Chat
8. File Manager with public/members only download pages
9. Contact Form
10. Some amount of JavaScript/JQuery that requires advance usage of selectors

Doesn't matter how you mock it up, if you can include all of the features and maintain stability then you're probably a competent web developer.

I have a website called PaydayArcade.com that I want to turn into some sort of online flash website that pays people eventually by splitting ppc/ppm ads similar to how aggregate sites like hubpages share revenue. I have a few logos to work from as well.

The website is blank, so I'd settle for anything I could tie my adsense to and make a tiny bit from random flash game plays when people click through the site.
