I'm now a Linux Admin for a very large company, one among many people in this field at this company. I'm going to use this thread to post about new things I learn and weird/interesting stuff that happens at work.
Unfortunately I start Nov 18th, so right now this thread is just to share the good news until I start!

Yes mucho raise, I'll still do freelance web development as I don't think I can ever get tired of it. In this company I have the opportunity to grow, I have enough of a Linux background to work this job however I hope to end up on the software development end of the company in the next few years.

If u want to be a software developer, I'd recommend start self learning on your free time and eventually put w/e you learned on your resume and get good at it, then work on a personal project if you can.

I had no programming background in the beginning of this year, and I started learning java in March. Now I'm working as a J2EE software consultant (got hired 2 weeks ago) and the pay is amazing

i've been considering getting out of coding for a while lol. i just recently started studying again to be a mathematician, but it's a long road ahead.

your post is a bit misplaced. he was already a web developer for quite some time, so he's not really new to coding.

What are your plans to do with math? Teach? Build rockets? Pm me as I'd like to keep this thread a bit clean

In a nutshell I fix clients boxes when something comes up, I'm also responsible for reacting to things such as DDOS attacks and more.
Primarily my team works with DNS

Just got some information back from them, the 18th will pretty much be paperwork and training day. I'll register my vehicles for their parking lot and such as well as get an access card. Then it's a month away but apparently they do a session with bringing new employees up to speed with company history and more. I need to get into some of their training courses asap
