I'm aware that there are various windows emulators, and I use wine, but I don't know if you can watch netflix on a Linux computer, since I haven’t been able to make it work? Any help would be much appreciated.

you got 2 choices, neither of them are very good, but will get the job done:

1. Use Firefox (the windows version with silverlight plugin) under Wine
2. Use a windows virtual machine.

For ubuntu and derivatives there is ppa that makes it very easy,

Code

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:ehoover/compholio
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install netflix-desktop

- native, upstream wine won't work, you need specifically patched version of wine and some libs.
