I am Pursing a Degree in Computer and Information Science. However, I have to choose 1 language to take the introductory course to that decides what the rest of my classes will be will be later. I don't know which one I should take though.

The languages are:
C#
Java
Objective-C for Mac

don't really care for Mac so between C# and Java.

java

close enough to C# that you could pick it up within a few weeks if you had to

both are similar to C syntax wise, except you will have to relearn a whole new set of basic functions which isn't that hard.

without any more info I'd also say Java, but it's somewhat alarming that your education path comes down to a choice among languages.

well.. It's not that you can't take more. but for the degree you can only have so many credits that count towards it. so if i take C# and java. only one of them actually count towards the degree

Sounds like a really bad school. I'd pick C#. A lot of companies now a days are picking up .NET developers for in house applications.
I get emails weekly from recruiters just because I have C# on my linkedin.

Either way, Java or C# are both great languages. Both are very very similar and it would not be hard at all to transition to a different one at a later point in time by yourself.
And to be honest, once you learn one language, learning another one is very easy.

I'm in the Air Force and currently stationed in Germany. School options are slim. The school is UMUC

Java will have the most job opportunities out there. I would start with Java, then work my way towards other languages. It's a great way to learn to program.

i would ignore this guy.

what will get you the most job opportunities with non shit companies is your programming logic, not the syntax you know. if the company is any good they would know that syntax can be picked up within a few weeks and that its the programming logic that is what most people lack.
