Your best bet for being able to play is to run wc3 with a pre 1.24 patch. To lower your patch version you have to uninstall and reinstall without connecting to Battle.net. If you are installing from the Battle.net installer I am not sure which base version you will have if it is 1.24 or greater, you are out of luck. If you are installing from a disc I think the highest version you could have is 1.21, which should be fine. You won't be able to play on Battle.net (you need to have the most current patch for to play on Battle.net), but assuming you just want to play with friends you could easily organize lan games through vlan software like Hamachi. There are other programs that emulate the functionality of Battle.net, but they may require certain versions of patches and you could only play with people who have the same patch as you.
Fixing the map isnt a simple task. First you need someone who is familiar with the WC3 world editor and JASS, you are better off trying to find these types of people on forums dedicated to WC3 maps and mods. JASS isnt anything special, it's just a scripting language used in the WC3 world editor. Even if you find somebody who has the skills to edit the map, you have to worry about whether or not the map is protected or not. A lot of popular maps are protected, which basically means you can't open them and edit them without a password. So if the map is protected you are pretty much out of luck. If the map is unprotected, the next obstacle is the scope of the fix. There is not just one place where you need to fix the return bug, you need to fix it throughout all of the code. From the looks of it this is an RPG map, so there is likely a ton of code. With so much code to edit you can bet that you won't find anyone to do it for free.
i would be willing to pay. i am not sure how much it would cost though, and im not sure if it is protected or not.
