I just brought home a laptop from work that was going to be junked, currently to log in I have to type axx-05679(computer name)\admin + the password to login to the computer because it is set to log into a domain which obviously it cannot do. My question is how do I go about changing it so that it automatically logs in as a local user. When I try and go to control panel/system and security/system and to change settings for computer name, domain, and workgroup, it asks me to enter admin password which I do but replies with "There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request"....which makes sense, but how do i get around this? If this is even the proper way of doing what I need done.

Sorry if I haven't provided enough information, If i haven't just post what other info you need.

Thanks

If wiping the comp will do it then I'm open to that option, but I don't have a windows 7 cd which I could use to install the o/p again, and trying to use system restore it asks for the same username/password which ends up havig the same error message because of not being able to connect to domain.
