Any ruby on rails developers here?

ive been thinking about getting into it, seems like the learning curve is stiff, but well worth if afterwards.

ive been developing in php for the last few years but looking to get into something a bit more "structured"

just curious if anyone has any experience with it.

i have not used it. my coworker used it a while back, but he never really liked ruby. he moved towards grails (aka groovy on rails) instead which is a similar idea but you use groovy instead of ruby. if you like java, his recommendation was spring roo, or if you like python you can check out django.

Ruby on rails is much more valuable to know than php, because there are a fair number of ror positions, yet few people who use it.

Plus it was designed to be more flexible and to make coding fun.

/edit oh and it runs 25% faster than php

I got it installed, im going to start some tutorials tomorrow.

its seems a bit more automated than php as well.

I have done a little bit of java, but i didnt really like its web support too much. it seems more for desktop or android app development nowdays.

Always wanted to try it, I might pick it up here soon.

Zombies on Rails and http://ruby.railstutorial.org/ have good tutorials from what I've read.
