i'm talking about control panel-network and internet-internet options
then go to connection tab. click LAN settings. check automatically detect settings

when i first install windows, this is checked by default
however, if i leave this checked, my d2 client will take about 10 seconds to launch
if i uncheck this, it takes 1 second

i thought this only affect my browser, didn't know it would affect d2 as well
anyone know why?

some programs that don't have proxy settings use internet options (internet explorer) to achieve this.
for example, Chrome does this

some ppl are not affected by this i don't know why

Well I know you've had DNS issues in the past, and after reading that article (even though I didn't understand 100% of it), it does seem to invovle DNS; although I'm not sure if it fits your problem... Might be worth messing with it to see what happens though.

my dns issue is router firmware related
i rolled back to previous firmware and haven't had dns issue since
