Got it working by setting it to 3D graphics. Loaded and terrible lag. Wouldn't load game under 2d graphics. Back to 3D. Still Laag, tried 2d last time and loaded. Seems sketchy to start up lol

well if you have windows 8 pro and dont mind switching FROM windows 8, revert back to win7
if you bought your PC from certain vendors they allow you to revert back to windows 7 for free. NOT if you bought an OEM version however.
im not sure if you could use them in tandem or not, i doubt it though. i believe your product key will work with a standard windows 7 home disc as well as your Windows 8 disc

Otherwise, Oracle has a free program to run a Virtual Machine on your computer called VirtualBox. i use it to run old windows 98 games that havent been rebuilt.
you could simply install a copy of windows xp onto your currently running windows 8 and dedicate most of the resources to the virtual machine.

just right click d2 run compatible to something yu ran on already.
