getting ideas is the hard part. if you have the ideas, make apps for both.

i'm not even sure what "better" means. easier to develop? depends on if you prefer java or objective c. easier to distribute? android since iphone has a stricter publishing policy. less competition? depends on your idea. has more users? dunno, google it

Alright I'm leaning more to Android at this point.

Anyone know any good tutorials to learning java from scratch? How many years to become familiar with it?

If you want to do app development specifically and don't plan to be coding collaboratively, then you should just Google guides on how to start developing android apps, and look for guides that aim towards people who don't know how to program.

If the above doesn't apply to you, then you should consider learning how to program first before doing any specific kind of development.

Easier => Android
More profit => IOS
Easier to publish => Android (!)

If you develop seriously you write for both of course ^_^
