Here is the result I am looking for.. with everything left of the layout "Which is white right now" to be transparent. The whole layout will be aligned against the right wall.

I've cut the following images out..

The banner seems pretty simple..Most likely will work in this way.

The buttons I was thinking of doing a table 2x1 with this image underneath the header..

I havn't coded since 2006 and thought of trying it out again..Thinking of going to school for it.. Any tips would be appreciated. Oh and btw plan on having a menu huge menu on the right..starting with a search bar at the top and then underneath that and all the way down just links beyond links to pages on the site.. And plan on using php includes for the content.. HELPPPP =D

With CSS... Use div's, a list for the navbar,etc. Maybe some js if you want the navbar animated. Why don't you reorient yourself by looking through CSS, html 5 tutorials and possible javascript too.

Make the menu an unordered list, set its list items to inline, then do your navigation normally.

Code
<nav>
<ul>
<li>nav item goes here</li>
<li>...</li>
</ul>
</nav>

Code
nav > ul > li {
display: inline;
list-style: none;
}

Don't use tables for nontabular data, and don't use imagemaps as they're kind of useless in most cases.

back when i was coding before we used tables..guess this is old school now lol... We did use css and div's .. Were barely usable back then.. What I remember is being able to place anything in a specific section OVER anything..anywehre on the page..Is this the same idea as what your talking about?
