I was wondering if making websites for people in exchange for payment is something profitable if you have enough clients, I'm not sure if this is the right place to be talking about this, I don't know if any of you guys do websites

First thing you have to figure out for yourself is what you mean by profitable and what your education/experience level is. Assuming 4 year degree, minimal experience, and working full time, you should be able to net 40k-60k/year. mid-life career around 80-100k

Second thing you have to do is figure out what you mean by "making websites". Afaik, web design is usually paid on a project basis (where you have multiple projects going on), whereas web development is usually paid hourly and you deal with one client at a time. You can also do ecommerce, cms, etc. In general, i think web development pays more than web design, but it really depends on how good you are at either.

i assume you mean web design.

1. school
2. practice
3. experience
4. portfolio
5. profit

Or do you mean program to help make sites? Dreamweaver, photoshop, notepad++, etc
