After finally getting settled at 28 and being able to afford to go back to college . Looking to break into the computer field . Will only be able to go to community college as I have kids.what are my options ? They offer programming, web design, and networking. Trying to make Idk decent money 40k a year would be nice , but also need stability in the field aswell . What would be my best choice ?? Or options I could look into ? I realize these are some vague questions and I havnt really done anything with computers in about 8 years accept some basic things .

A leading question: What makes you want to do one of those three things in the first place? Just money? Do you have any interest in programming at all?

I really think you should enroll in a Community College and see how it goes for you. Programming is going to require that you have some enjoyment of math.

edit: Why did I click on your profile? For fuck's sakes I can't believe you are 28 and have kids.

Just to elaborate a bit a web design degree is a bit bullshit. I would scratch that right off your list of things to do. Networking is more of a hardware admin sort of vocation. You are going to be setting up corporate networks, configuring switches and the like. That's not my cup of tea and it's really not very intellectually interesting but it's a good living.

You might want to give some programming a shot and see if you like it. Learning to program is (thankfully) free and you only need a computer and a text editor. Try this - http://learnpythonthehardway.org/

are you still stuck in a weird dimension where everyone else has to have the same opinion as you or else it shocks you?

edit: butthurt? Son I don't get butthurt, that is term reserved for people who get angry as easy as you.
