Some places I'm trying to apply to require knowledge of SQL Server

Where can I get the best head start and understanding of how the software works?

Download it and play with it, build a dummy database and use the db with a website or app and or follow tutorials.

do you already know standard SQL and you just want to learn MSSQL specific things like backups, restore, reports, analytics, performance tuning/monitoring, etc? or do you need to learn sql first?

I have little knowledge on sql but thanks for the info ! I guess that is the best shot; download it and play with it hehe
