well im looking at making some basic websites, and would love to learn php and mysql for its versatility

been looking on W3schools etc and i know all the resources there, but obviously im guessing theres a structure that i need to follow to learn efficiently

anyone care to help, what should i do first?

look at some courses on lynda.com

start with html & css before php and mysql.

my goal is to be able to make a website with downloads and a forum on it, to host some in house software

theres some topics here about this same matter, with very good answers and discussion. try to search a bit.

thanks guys, iv put a few things together so far using html and css, still a bit shitty with it though

my advice is to use Wordpress, play around with the css code and php, thats how i learned atleast, im sure going courses is much better if you want to learn fast but not as fun imo
