Before you all insult me, I built my own desktop and play all my games on that; however, I have a job away from home for the next couple of weeks and have a laptop. I'm QQing because I can't get D2 to run on my mac.

If I try to download it from battlenet or insert the disk I get the message "Power PC applications are no longer supported". The processor on this pos mac is intel core 2 duo, and the operating system is os x. I attempted the Play it on mac program but couldn't get LOD to work, just plain D2. Moreover, I've read that the new operating system Lion or w/e simply doesn't support such old games anymore, but that the OS X should be able to run it so I don't know what the dealio is.

I asked friends who have it on Mac and they redirected me to battle net and downloading the patch for classic/os x/ lod which did nothing because it just says the same crap "power pc applications are no longer supported", and it's just the v1.3 patch, and that is all I have found thus far on bnet about this topic.

any help would be appreciated

Noted, time to insult.
Get the fuck out of Programmer's Haven as your problem is no way relevant to this subforum.

"Power PC applications are no longer supported"

this is exactly the problem. Newer OSX no longer support PowerPC applications. Older versions of OSX had some kind of emulation for PowerPC binaries.

install VM, install winxp on VM and play there.

Oh noes, you went on the defensive and said I am mad.
How is it to be the kind of person you are, completely disregarding any forum rules of forums you visit? Is it pleasing? I'm rather happy that I am not like you.
In light of that, no worries, I am so fucking mad, and happy to be mad. Let's get mad yeah?

I apologize, just thought that the programmers would have more info seeing as how it involves installing and tampering with other programs.. maybe not writing code, but you get the idea.

the nerd rage is overwhelming.
