I have had a little experiance with triggers and functions with my college programs. I'm currently enrolled in some computer information systems courses and have some background information on them when it comes to sql databases. As far as coding goes I havnt done to much of it besides html (which imo is the easiest coding language to learn). anyways heres what I want to do

I want to create a list of people who are running lets say belil experiance runs.
I then want to use a command such as !belil or something to that effect as a trigger that pulls up a function and lists all of the people that are running those runs

im also fairly certain that another command would come into play to allow people to add their names to that list

I assume "belil experiance runs" are related to some game, and you're talking about a chat bot?

it's fairly straight forward. Have a parser read in the command, then run a select statement in your db to see who's running. for a small list of people, a database isn't even needed. just stick info into a text file or other serialized file. im sure these bots are already written.

im not sure why you're talking about a trigger either.

can you explain why you posted here? are you just sharing your idea? or do you need help with something? if so, ask a specific question

For starters, go download a chatbot. i assume you want something that's integrated with whatever chat client you use. you're not gonna build that from scratch easily with your experience level.

after you do that, there's prolly some place you can add your own scripts. if there isn't any built in support for a simple language that does what you need, it'll prolly spit out that stuff in a log file. you can then write a java/c/.net/etc program to read the log file and do your magic. but you can get to those details after you look at the built in support first.

the chatbot im using is mirc with invision. you can load scripts into it and stuff really cool program

so it took you three posts just for us to determine that you need to go to mirc's forum or read mirc's tutorials on how to write scripts for it.
