actually they do have them, in fact I've used them before:
For an example google "roman.py"

how would you convert a 500 decimal digit long number into log?
and log doesn't give a correct result for that anyhow

Dude, you can even do that on Win 7...so question is meaningless

wrong, you can
you have to represent the numbers in long arrays and build your own arithmetic processor
but for that you need to understand what a number is and how representations work :)
