I've messaged him without a reply. I don't blame him though as it would essentially be nurturing potential competition.

This is very helpful, thank you. What would be considered a government sanctioned currency? I'm assuming you mean something like the USD or EUR ect.

It's scary how fast legislation can crush a well established currency like that, but not at all supprising. The gov't can't risk their monopoly on monopoly money :)

While that is true, there are competition sites that were actually somewhat successful back when I first joined, but they all melted to the ground due to jsp's dominance.

I think Paul is confident in his site.

But yeah, I can't speak for him getting back to you on replies. Busy guy I am sure lol

I think I have the 'curve ball' that can begin to shift the market to my concept. I was reading a bit about who owns what portion of this market and JSP was ahead by quite a bit on any of the competition. The website with the second most traffic was a merged website using bitcoin as opposed to forum gold. Interesting concept but I think my concept would take away from both of those markets.

I still don't know what his profits are like but I assume he's grossed more than a million over the years.

I've done a lot of research about how his 'system' works and understand how profits are generated/realized. I've drawn out a successful cash flow of my concept in a program called stella so I know exactly how the money would flow in the website I'm making as well.

Edit: For now I'm worried about development, external costs, and marketing tactics to establish a userbase (I have some theories/ideas already).

I think FinCen's definition is legal tender emitted by an in-house list of country. Not sure about the members of that list but it's a safe bet to assume any currency traded on the forex market falls under that distinction.

The process to acquire the money trader license is long, hard and costly indeed. However keep in mind that these regulations are in the end for US residents and market only. EU and Asian super powers have yet to make a move on these, and as far as you're concerned, they really don't care about centralized forum/game currency, even if it's openly traded for fiat money.

Interesting. May pm you to discuss the topic a bit more in depth. Will do a bit more reading on my own first though.

Thanks. Regardless of whether my concept is successful or not at the very least I'm learning about the actual processes involved in starting up a website/business which will be very helpful for any potential future ventures I might have.

Success is obviously my goal here, but I'll learn something either way.

The host/domain may be free, I'm talking about having my own carbon copy of d2jsp on my own server and my own web domain without having the programming skills to code it myself

edit: I also plan to implement additional features, but that is beside the point.
