"ubuntu costs" -> best joke i've ever heard

These kids must have no idea what open source is. I love how they are trying to throw around big words that they have no idea what they mean in an attempt to rework wiki pages into sounding like something they are pulling from there ever so vast knowledge of computer operating systems.

It would be entertaining to think that I was as excited about Linux as i am now when I first started using it. I must say I indeed used Mircrosoft products for years. i never denied that. i was very up front about how much money I have wasted over my 30+ years on microsoft garbage. And yes I even gave Microsoft credit for the efforts they made all the way up to Windows Xp. But lets face it, With Bill Gates almost 100% out of the picture, The company road map has steadily going down hill. Compared to even Mac, Microsoft has no advantage any more. Windows 8 is trash. And only mindless sheep will go out and purchase a touch screen PC when they already have smartphones and tablets to fill that tech nitch. And who the hell would want windows 8 based tablet over an Android (Linux) Tablet or Ipad. Almost no one. But these super smart and "worth every penny" morons at microsoft thought I would, and you would. Not only that but the price of the Microsoft operating systems is on a slow but steady rise. The fact that you clame you have not had to pay for your Windows OS shows how ignorant you truly are. I can only assume that you buy prebuilt corporate garbage so any argument you make is void from the start as you do not even know what a real PC is. If you did you would know you must purchase a full OEM release of windows with a starting price of $100 when you build a new system. and that does not include ANY OTHER SOFTWARE. Just windows. It is overpriced all to hell and not worth a dime of it.

And what in the world are you talking about Ubuntu costing? it is 100% open source, 100% free. The ONLY versions of Linux that cost anything are....... oh wait.... NONE OF THEM COST ANYTHING. Yes in corporate network environments, The companies pay for a support package to integrate the operating system into there hardware platforms. They pay for the support. Not the open source software. NEVER has ANY Linux distrobution EVER cost ANY money. Support packages yes... They cost as that is time and resources. But NO Ubuntu and no other flavor has a price tag. it would not be Linux if it did as It would not be open source.

I am however very happy with how far Linux has come and It is a great alternative to Microsoft and Apple if you do not wish to fork out huge chunks of money for software that does nothing but place icons on your desktop. I remember when I first started using Linux back in the 90s. I hated it. Oh man sorry... i forgot that was around the time the better half of you ran down your mothers leg when your father finished his mating ritual. But regardless, You can still google it since your generation seems so fond of it. There was almost no GUI shell out there. It was all terminal and for the time was nothing compared to Microsfot. But that was then. This is now. and There is atleast 20 different Distors of Linux that can go toe to toe with windows 7 and ALL OF THEM shit all over windows 8 when it comes to being user friendly, stable, and all around usefulness.

how so? just because i know how to pirate legit versions of the operating system doesnt really mean anything.

why would you need to buy a OEM license when you build a new system. i've build many rigs in the past and for each one i downloaded a legit copy of windows (verrified via md5 crc and sha1 sums from windows technet blog) and applied a bootloader patch which loads a OEM key into memory prior to windows launch. if you need to, go google DAZ loader if you are unfamiliar with the concept.

osx lion costs 20$ and its based off linux. sure its a far cry from 60-120$ microsoft charges but they are still charging for linux lol.

well any distro of linux can go toe to toe with their competitors if they come pre packaged with a UI such as kde or gnome, but lets face it compiling your kernel from source is way more fun but i only think a select few here actually know how. i personally like to compile a hardened gentoo kernel on some of my home servers and strip the unneeded drivers.

overall i dont see why you are so butt hurt over our opinions on a power user stance. i really doubt you do anything productive on your os and if you did you would know how simple and intuitive the command line is.
also before you go running your mouth on me about how i dont know linux and i just "google it since my generation seems so fond of it", you can stick my next null pointer 0day that i found up your rear end lol ;) dont forget that ASLR bypass on 64bit linux that i also found, oh wait i really doubt you know what ASLR is or rather anything that comes to exploitation of a local OS.

I'm now convinced you're a total idiot.

I'm not going to post a picture of the computer I built myself, you can check my personal photos as it's already uploaded.

Ubuntu app store: http://www.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/features/find-more-apps (omg apps that cost money on linux, what is this)

A few linux distros that cost: Mandriva, Linspire and Xandros

Let's say for a moment you started learning linux & computers from the day you were born, in that scenario you can say that you have 30+ years of experience, but since you're probably 30 living at moms I can think differently, you've wasted your time on this planet as well as wasted everyone else's time in this post, no point of anything you're saying has any sense to it, you still have yet to answer my question of what you do with computers, since you're bragging about using linux in the 90's, I'm more than certain someone is paying you to try and troll. Now I know abduct here is probably going to write about how much of an idiot you are but here's my challenge, please post 20 linux operating systems that go "toe to toe" with windows 7, along with what your use of computers really is. I would also like to see wiki articles that are anywhere close to what any of us are saying. If you can't do those things then you're just another worthless speck on the face of the Earth that has no true value to society aside from helping old ladies with their groceries at your local shopping center.

I'd also like to point out windows 8 was a marketing move by Microsoft more than anything, not like you'd understand any of that though, you have a small brain. (Probably why you aren't understanding anything I'm saying)

Also about pricing going up, even with inflation microsoft has kept their operating system more than affordable, you retard:
