Yea like the others said you're probably gonna want to just find a school with a program for a bachelor's in computer science

Also getting relevant certifications can help alot too

Btw if you want a trusted college with a good program, apply to Digipen. You are also in luck because one of their degrees is Bachelors of Science in Computer Science and Game Design.

My friend went there and graduated. He found his interest through map making in starcraft 1.

its computer science, usually theres also a branch called software engineering but thats more about managing and handling different cycles of programming a software. I did computer engineering which i believe would be similar to computer science but a lil bit into hardwares and designing new systems.

idk about where you live but in my country you can also do minor programs for programming too but you learn mostly about programming in CE/CS anyway.

I wish I got into map making on starcraft. I modified a few maps I liked to mess around in single player with but didn't take the time to learn how to make triggers always work properly.

I tried a few times and they wouldn't work how I wanted so I just gave up

Yea takes a lot of hardwork to actually finish a map, especially if you got more indepth with EUD Triggers.

Luckily typing and copy/paste triggers made it a lot easier, edcept debugging was a pain in the ass.

If your school doesn't offer Comp Sci, see if they at least offer pre-requisites that you can use as transfer credit to an actual CS program 2-3 years down the road. Some schools will accept an Associate's to get into a Bachelor's program but I'm not sure of the specifics.

An Associate's alone will get you basically nothing unless you have a lot of experience in game design already, which you don't seem to have. I would recommend the transfer into a CS degree, preferably one that offers co-op experience and tangible networking opportunities with the industry.

Thanks for all of the input guys, the local University offers a bachelors in computer science, I was wanting to do online schooling but I don't see myself going anywhere anytime soon so fuck it.
