I really don't know yet. The goal is to be able to find a job that pays relatively well. The goal is to look at adverts and be able to say: "I can do this, I know how to" and be confident about it.

Job advertisements / ideal candidate listings are moving targets. You may be going about this backwards. In my humble opinion, you should something you are passionate about / interested in / have always wanted to learn about, and follow through on it from start to finish. It is highly likely that you will have to do a lot of research and self-learning along the way that will make you practice some of the things on "desirable" and "nice-to-have" lists.

i don't know the greece job market, so i can't comment on that.

you're in your 3rd year of college. hopefully you've had some coding experience. so lets start with that. what HAVE you done?

i have no clue what the bolded are. it's not a translation problem. i 'm guessing you're just learning stuff from a very specific market, in which case i'd avoid them unless you're interested in it.

1) Web design
2) Computer systems security
3) Basic skills in Windows 7 and office 2010 (really?)
4) Biomedicine databases
5) Joomla
6) Database administration
7) Software development
8) Smart energy grid
9) CMS Drupal
10) Network engineer
11) Managment information system
12) Hospital computer systems
13) Medical Computing

14) c++
15) Internet related studies

if you're interested in making web sites, then obviously web design, cms, joomla might come in handy.

software development sounds like an entry level course, but it's hard to tell without seeing the course work.

dont think i'd waste time learning ms word if you're looking for a job. there are times i wish i knew more, but it's on the bottom of the list imo.

CompTIA's Network+ and Security+ are more useful than those "certifications", but i'm not sure if that's big in greece.

I want to thank all for their replies.

regarding what I'd like to do, web design, joomla and cms seem interesting and tons of fun.

regarding what I've been taught so far at OU follows a list:

(translation might be slightly off)

-introduction to numerical systems and their operations
-introduction to digital circuits
-basic algorithms, pseudocode, basic diagrams
-c language
-data structures
-flow charts
-state charts
-data charts
-databases and its respective algebra
-operating systems
-organisation of memory
-linear algebra
-derivatives and integrals
-probabilities
-combinatorics
-both types of logic (dont know english term)
-graphs
-trees
-extensive digital circuits and boolean algebra
-registers and operations using them
-cache memory
-ram memory
-assembly
-digital transmissions
-fourier transformation
-fm/am etc modulations
-theory of information, codes huffman etc
-basic network theory including ip networks

and we are about to be taught in year 3:

-artificial intelligence
-algorithms
-automata
-typical languages
-computing theory (turing machine)
-extensive java

This list seems to be quite broad, with the important core parts of your curriculum thrown in the mix. Bolded parts are your money-makers and should be hard courses; if you've taken true OS and done reasonably well, you can do whatever you want. Pick something interesting to you.

Based on the fact that you've asked the forum about whether you should take web design and joomla.... I will go out on a limb and assume your OS is on the level of 'this is a processor, this is memory, this is a keyboard'. If you think you can handle it, take real OS.
