I'll tell you what I'm sure people have already told you, I spent about 450 on my build 3 years ago and this is what I got

Asus mobo
965be 3.6 ghz
500gb hd
16gb of 1600mhz ram
260gtx (no longer using this)
tx650 corsair psu

Oh and w7 ultimate oem

What you wanted to do could be done for quite a bit cheaper than what you spent, I would estimate around 800 for that case included. Trust when I say this, if you have someone knowledgeable tell you what to buy you will save so much money, building a pc is very simple especially after your first one, watch a youtube or something, congratulations on your purchase and I hope it fills your needs.

It does. I play anything on ultra settings W/ plenty going on in the background.
I doubt it can be done at my specs for 800. Esp the part that it needs to be able to lay on it's side without causing heat issues. I did a lot of shopping around and that includes people who build PCs as a hobby.

I can't build the slim system that I envisioned in my head. Everyone knows building a tower is as easy as stacking legos, but with the small platform (xbox size) and the extreme versatility (being able to move it from tv to tv) is something I've always wanted in a PC. We all know PC>Console except for the fact that it isn't an "in living room experience" but that isn't true anymore.

computers never overheat if you buy a ~50$ computer case that's not a piece of shit, so unless you're buying a prebuilt desktop , you can't really fail...
a 800$ computer would be able to do this, 1000$ would be the max i would invest personally.
