Now give php a try. PHP is used to create html documents on the fly (this way you can change what is in the html document based on anything you like, a simple example would be a script that creates the page with the background color based on what day of the week it currently is).

I'll consider doing that after I learn a bit more about HTML basics and a bit of CSS.

Just learned about lists, ordered lists, a bit about how to properly order tags, how to alter font/color/font size.

Will work on more later tonight. I'm enjoying it so far. I know I'm gona hit a brick wall eventually though lol.

Since I haven't seen you talk about it anywhere, do you go with CSS? It should be natural to learn it together with HTML.

Do yourself a favor and check it before trying to alter font/color/font size etc with pure html ;-)

Html and css should be learned together imho, think of html as the walls and structure of a building, css decorates it

ya; codeacademy used the analogy html is the skeleton, and CSS is the skin/makeup that makes it look nice.

Ironically enough I just learned about coloring in html (text/background) as well as aligning text, bolding and italicizing words, and creating hyperlinks with text.

I'm about to learn about Tables, Divs, and Spans. Directly after that I begin learning CSS basics.

This is kind of interesting. Wish I stumbled upon he site a few years ago so I would be more advanced lol. Better late than never though.

Just try to do as much as you can by reading APIs and writing code yourself. If you get into the bad habit of copying code and not writing it yourself early you'll learn a lot less.

Good luck :)

Good advice; I could see how copy/pasting could lead to bad habits. Thanks

just enroll yourself in a first year programming course with compsci students

it will teach you a fuck-load of programming, as well as how a computer actually works
