Basic HTML and CSS will get you a long way to building a "very nice website".  Both of those... (I hesitate to call them languages) languages are very easy to learn and to pickup.

Stick with learning HTML/CSS and start learning how to make some simple pages.  Then go look around at other sites and look at / steal their source code to see how others do it.  Don't worry about anything else for now.
