Also is the learn python the hard way a legit thing.. Because I actually googled it and read the exercise 0 and such and such

It's a legit thing, and from my brief perusal of it, a decently structured way to learn programming as well. Definitely worthwhile and worth checking out if you don't like to deal with the lecture format of the OCW course.

The name of the site is a bit misleading from what I can tell, since its goal is also to teach programming rather than to teach Python (but perhaps that's why it's "the hard way").

Looks fine to me.

who's the neko in your sig? is she from a game?

She is a champion in the Field of Justice, League of Legends. Codename: Katarina, Profession: Assassin, Address: Some room in the Noxian Castle

and to irimi, according to the site "the hard way" is just the more traditional way i guess. But if that is what it takes to grasps the concept then so be it.

math/physics can play big roles depending on what you are doing. However, if someone asks you to make a program with math/physics, it seems likely that they would tell you all the formulas you need to know etc.

at your stage in school, i wouldn't worry about it lol. when i was in high school, i felt algebra 2 and physics B were the most overloaded math courses. they just stick in a little bit of many different things. physics C should be easy though.

I don't know if Codecademy is looked down on here, but Codecademy.com at least for me has been a gradual step into programming. They have several languages to choose from including python and javascript.

never heard of it, but now has piqued my interest. Maybe carter/irimi/rockon can comment on it

I've never heard of it before and it's piqued my interest as well because they allow you to make custom courses. I'm going to have to look into this and see how good some of these tutorials are and see if I can add anything to it.
