the question is not "should I learn c++" but rather "does my job require me to use c++" or something along those lines.

As someone said, it would appear that the fundamentals are the best thing you could have. I myself just started my actual undergrad for CS and my previous views or thoughts on CS or languages were tossed out the door. I used to think like the OP, I always heard C++ was a 'hard' language or something, so I thought learning that would make you a GG programmer.

Boy was I wrong. Languages are languages. It is the logical process and algorithm knowledge (and when to utilize them) that will make you better overall. As well as other things that carry between many languages.


and there is a LOT to learn....
