It means a symbol.  In your statement, you're passing the symbols Ford and Mustang, both of which are completely meaningless.  Pass string values, "Ford" and "Mustang"

Then I would recommend reading the Java Tutorials ( http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/ ).

Oh ASBands, why do I like Java so much when it is such a lackluster language in most respects. :(

It's downright useful for some things...but overall it is a depressingly dull language. I would recommend Scala or Clojure. I prefer Scala's feature set, but Clojure is pretty nice as well. Overall, there really isn't a good reason to use Java the regular language anymore, since Scala and Clojure are so superior.

We are pretty much married to standard Java and work and I've been so uninspired lately. I've been really trying to find a fun project to work on outside of work and I've come up short.

Yeah, our teacher does not teach us anything. The course we are in is supposed to prepare us for the AP AB Computer Science exam in May. We end up teaching ourselves everything and we have really not learned anything too complex... we haven't even gotten through half of the curriculum and the AP test is on our doorstep.

Are you in the same class? I would recommend that both of you just read the Java Tutorials. You're in high school, so you should have all the free time in the world.

Both Scala and Clojure compile to Java bytecode and can interoperate with Java (Scala is a lot nicer to do so). Learn some Scala!

Yea, we're in the same class. I've already purchased review books that cover the topics on the test so hopefully I can use that in conjunction with those tutorials you guys recommended to study for this test.
