i found eclipse's plugins to be difficult to manage. should be a simple one button install, but they often clash with each other so they won't install right. there's no installer for eclipse; you just unzip and you're ready to go. there are also tons of versions of eclipse since you dont really upgrade it; so you gotta figure out if you're using juno or kepler or luna or whatever because things aren't always the same across them all

i use eclipse just because i started with it in high school. coworker uses intellij and another uses netbeans.

i think we've already told you to just pick one and try it out. if you dont like it, switch to the next one on the list.

I remember using JCreator in high school. I liked it. When I was in university, we had jGrasp. It was lightweight, and pretty easy to use but I was already stuck on JCreator so I didn't care much for it, although I didn't really have a bad thing to say about it. This was all 10 years ago, and I would imagine both IDE's have been updated to today's standards. Recently, if I am ever fucking around with Java I have found myself using Eclipse. I remember when Eclipse came out and everyone was flocking to it. I tried it and it just felt meh. I tend to use it now, since I am not really a Java developer when I needed an IDE for Java dev it was simple to just download, unzip it, and go. But it still makes me feel dirty. I miss JCreator.

i've used the 3.

to start learning, neatbean seems to be the best as it's reallly simple to use
IntelliJ, i use it every days at work, it's one of best ide at this time for pro. but not for learning cause some options are not free, and you must have a very good hardware to run it.
Eclipse was the best ide 5 years ago. I use it very rarelly for old projects. It can be a good choice if you'r not affraid by hundred and hundred settings

if you have a .edu email address you can get the pro version free
might be worth it just for the awesome discounts and free software (maya? 3ds? office?), there are ways to find just an .edu email without being a student
