ask your college. i suspect there's a slightly different curriculum. might the arts is more graphic/media oriented whereas science is more theory oriented. depends entirely on the college. mine only offered BS. i'm sure the employer won't know the difference or else they won't care.

It's completely dependent on the school. In general, a B.A. is going to be less rigorous than a B.S., i.e. you'll be taking more math and have harder core classes. Some schools only offer B.A. degrees because of historical reasons but have the same rigor as another school's B.S. You'll have to compare the curriculum to find out.

neither of them prepare you for a job in the IT business, i can tell you that.

might as well get a degree that is worth having and learn computer science from google

this is coming from an employer that hires people with this same degree, then has to train them for 3-6 months, and usually just fire them in the end cause they dont have any real world skills

Why would you hire a CS graduate to do IT/computer janitoring anyway?

A CS grad doing IT janitor work is just one who isn't good at programming but able to follow along the cert monkey tasks IT people do.

I hire computer programmers and software designers, not janitor work.

Computer science is the theory behind computers and technology. It is probably the most pointless degree aside from business management.

Just look at this subforum, its all kids cheating their way to a computer science degree, and then going out trying to find a job asking for 30 an hour but cant even make a hello world program

Every programming forum is the exact same too.

Hello why does this textbox+textbox not produce an integer?

I will say though, the people who do actually know how to program usually only know javascript, seems to be very popular right now. Very good for certain things, but not a lot of jobs hiring for this. Youare best off learning .Net or complex data management.

I bet you work for a totally prestigious company that only shits out software made of the finest gold, right?

you sound pretty jaded. Maybe the problem isn't the people you hire, it is your inability to do your fucking job, find the right candidate, and train them properly.

if the military doesn't care, pick whatever curriculum looks easier for you.
