it just looks so similar to c and c++ to me.. why bother learning a language with essentially the same syntax and features but with less support?

You...have never used D have you?

D is C++ minus the masochism. It maintains C++ power while adding syntax sugar, implicit typing, mem management and fucking bounds checking for fucks sake.

The reason no one uses D is because it is kind of hard to compete with Java and C# when big business caters to names they know. That doesn't mean it is a shit language.

theres no masochism in c,

who needs the bounds check, its for weak users who dont know how 2 think in my opinion

its not that hard~

if u cant do something urself in c/c++ then another language may get u there in the short term but in the long term ur gonna still b pathetic

if im wrong plz elaborate ty~

Nope. Unless it has a specific niche where it shines above all other languages, I have no plan to either.

I'm sure it's not a bad language and get's the job done for those who use it, it's just that if I wanted a nice goodie bag with my programming, I'd go with python.

that's just a low blow lol. stay away from the web and gaming consoles and I think you're golden with C/C++.

Yes. There is masochism in C. Just because you are a hipster who thinks he is hot shit because he can do pointer arithmetic, does NOT mean it is a good thing for present day. Present day our compilers are more robust and can optimize better, allowing new languages to do things C couldn't. The improvements to C encapsulated in D are designed to increase programmer productivity. It decreases the amount of code that needs to be written, the time it takes to write code, and the amount of bugs that can be produced. It does this by handling memory itself, doing its own bounds checking, giving the language syntax shortcuts and infered types. These are not things to be looked down on as making someone "weak". You want a challenge? Why aren't you programming in Fortran? Or Pascal?

Knock that chip off your shoulder. If you think you are going to make it in this business just because you are some C Hippy, the equivalent of some asinine script kiddie, then you are wrong. You will fail.

I actually have a Fortran punch card. I use it as a book mark.
