I am interested in having a website made to support a business I would like to start.

I would want it to look very professional, high quality.

Probably design a page for:

Home page
Available services and contact
About and licensing
Servicing available locations (mapping function)
Pay a bill (not sure about this)

Business will be a computer diagnostics and repair type.

Don't know much about the coding that goes with it

Find a reliable freelance web developer. You can probably get it done for ~$300.

A professional web development company will charge $1500-$2000. I used to work as a web developer.

Do any decent folk here do it for FG? Or is it strictly a $$$ thing?

The less experienced developers will do it for FG, if you can find anyone. Most anyone here who has a real job or is supporting themselves will want to be payed with $.
If you wait along long enough you will find someone to do it for fg, but it may not be up to your standards.

That's a reasonable statement I suppose. I can liquidate into $$ anyways.

You don't need a designer, unless the person developing the site has no artistic talent whatsoever.

If you want a customer database, contact forum, mapping function (google maps api), etc, you need someone that knows php, sql, and javascript.

A graphic designer likely won't know any of this, let alone html/css, the very basics of web development.

i went to school for design, then swtched to web developemnt 3 years later. im not as expeirenced as some people with development (such as pure programmers) but i can get most jobs done.

I have a BA in math and a BS in computer science. Been doing freelance web work since I was about 15 years old (currently 23).

I can provide some examples of previous sites if needed.

Will take me about a week, I can show you the design free of charge on my own server. If you like it, we can transfer it to a host under your account. The hosting account will probably cost around 6-7$ a month.
