Is it possible for someone to find out the location of my phone via text message?

Easiest way is if your ringtone is on. walk around where ever you think you lost it and repeatedly text/call it and listen for your ringtone.

I think the OP might have meant for privacy reasons.

not unless they installed a malicious program that tells them the location of your phone when they send it a text message....

this. unless there is a malicious program installed on your smartphone that replies to text commands no one who sends you a text will recieve any vital information to your whereabouts.

on the other hand there are actual security apps that use this feature and a phones built in gps/wifi geo locating service to find your phone if its stolen.

well is it possible that someone installed something like this remotely because I have a password on my phone that no one knows and isnt easy to guess

My ex text me 3 times with this weird message and a few minutes later knew exactly where I was and showed up my new girl isn't happy about this.
