Bought this:
http://www.amazon.ca/Complete-Guide-Programming-C/dp/0763718173/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1344816310&sr=8-1

Amazing book, right side of the page is explanation and theory while the left side has examples explaining everything.

There are also exercises WITH solutions provided.

Great book and well written, I only knew Java and Python as OOP languages before reading this and I actually got the hang of C++ quite fast.

/e I know some other languages too, but they didn't really contribute much to this.

There's no need to buy a book to learn c++. There is a free copy of the book "Teach Yourself C++ in 21 days" and it teaches all necessary structures and concepts to properly construct object oriented programming methodologies.

Here is a link to an html version so you don't have to download anything. http://www.angelfire.com/art2/ebooks/teachyourselfcplusplusin21days.pdf Just bookmark the main page and there you go. BTW it can definitely picked up in less than 21 days if you've done programming in a different language. If you haven't programmed before you might want to start with something that has less of a learning curve like a nice .NET framework language. I suggest c#. The syntax is almost identical to c++ so once you understand Object Oriented Design and how different programming structures relate to each other in C# that would be a good time to segue to c++. Just my 2 cents ;)

The only possible way to learn C++ in 21 days is when you have a time machine.

Definitely not. It'll absolutely take more than 21 days if you've never programmed before, but the book splits all the different major areas of c++ into 21 modules which makes it nice and easy to learn no matter how long it takes you.

You can't say you know Enligsh if you know 800 words (even if its enough to communicate) and you can't say you know C++ when you know the bare basics.

Sorry, I should've known that "Definitely not" means he agreed with me.
