When I point out to them that none of the stuff they see/hear in the news is personally verifiable, and therefore should be taken with a grain of salt. Or when I point out that the government is made up completely of strangers that they do not know personally and therefore they shouldn't trust them blindly. I mean people don't simply disbelieve me, they actually get personally offended. Almost as if I had cast an aspersion on their character or some such. I don't understand. What I say is the truth. We as regular people literally do not know anybody in the news media or the government personally, and as such, there is no way for us to determine whether any of them is trustworthy. So, we shouldn't naively believe that they have our best interests at heart. All this is common sense, but people get mad.

I think this is a strange psychological quirk of white people. They always assume that everybody means well. They think it's rude to question people's motives. Their instinct is to trust. Blindly. This really will be their biggest downfall.
