Honestly I think we have too many people and society is far too lenient on sentencing. Punishment should be disproportionate to the crime to encourage better behavior.

I sure do! Yes, we have to pay for them to enter a specialized and extremely inefficient prison program called Death Row. However, paying for a piece of shit for 15 years is better than the rest of their worthless lives.

I think anyone imprisoned for rape, major crimes against children, first/second degree murder, and any lifers should automatically get the death penalty and be retroactively terminated by end of the fiscal year. It would solve the prison overcrowding and funding issues. We would actually have room for short prison sentences to deal with and deter pretty crimes. I.E. Looters, vandals, thieves. druggies, etc.

Like timeout, I think Prison should always be temporary. If the law feels the need to punish a criminal with a terminal prison sentence, just kill them so they don't take up a cell... I mean wtf.

All of Europe has a major overcrowding problem even with all their extra prisons and social programs. It worked when there was 5billion people on Earth... now there's 8 billion. Soon, there will be 12 billion. I guess Europe's retarded idea will run out of room. Why would any country want to pollute and populate their countries with building extra prisons when they can cremate offenders and have a booming fertilizer business?

The sad thing is what I'm saying sounds barbaric and obscene in a civilized society, but it's not wrong and the issue isn't solved. Modern civilization will eventually do what I suggest, or wait too long and be forced to implement something far more barbaric, or go extinct.

Civilized countries have leaders and experienced people who decided, weirdly, to avoid death penalty. This can be considered as a priviledge, or not, since some poor countries are also avoiding it.

Of course for countries in war, with guns, violence, inequalities, religious regression, or whatever divisive or authoritarian governements, this is another story...

Punishment doesn't deter crime. Even when petty theft was punished by hanging there was no shortage of thieves.

truth. the problem is at least in the USA, we do next to nothing to rehabilitate people...our jails/prisons just turn them into even more hardened criminals
