for the insurrection attempt on the Capitol? Apparently some people were using Gab.com, an alternative social media site, to plan or organize some aspects of the attempt.

However, the Communications and Decency Act, shields tech companies from civil lawsuits over what content a platform decides to leave up or remove. So naturally, some people advocate that Congress should pass new laws that would hold social media companies legally responsible for failing to take reasonable steps to get rid of dangerous content on its websites.
I am just wondering if you agree with this. And whether such a law would have any legal basis. Personally I think it's just people who don't like the content on Gab trying to drive it offline for political reasons. I also feel that it would go against the 1st amendment, although I am not entirely sure.
