The guy look like a Terminator, now i hope the procedures would take some time, giving Donnie some time to make a great show.

This special counsel will handle both the Jan. 6th investigation and the classified documents investigation as they pertain to Donald Trump. This move makes sense of course, because the optics of having Biden's DOJ investigating his likely political opponent in 2024 looks bad, so a Special Counsel provides some separation from political appointees.

Trump is very likely to be indicted in the classified documents case. I don't think it's impossible that an indicted Trump wins the presidency.

Edit - An interesting point from emptywheel, which is that maybe the SC appointment is also about providing separation from Biden's DOJ because sitting members of Congress are involved:

Absolutely nothing will come of the investigation in the house.

The republicans have taken the potential for bipartisan progress and obliterated it before their legislative session has even begun.

The will of every single republican voter has been trashed, they will get absolutely nothing that they were promised.

What's funny about being a cultist is you can see the Dear Leader attempt a coup, fail, go back home to Florida with dozens of classified documents, get caught, claim he sent them all back, get caught again, and you still think he's done nothing wrong. What a strange world you guys live in.
