There are 100 Senators; two for each of the 50 states. Compared, the House of Representatives has a colossal 435 members.

Each House member represents an individual district within a states, whereas Senators represent entire states.
This means that while the number of Representatives in the House is dictated by the population of the state, the number of Senators for each state is always two, no matter if there are two or two million inhabitants of that state.

Does the majority of the American population support the D now or the R.
Clear it up for me , because I have the impression that the House represent the population more and the Senate represents the state.
This is something I am fuzzy.

Each state gets assigned a number of house of representative seats based upon the population of the state.

The state decides how to draw up the legislative districts, which was historically a process that was done in a fair way.

Due to recent supreme court decisions, the states have the flexibility of drawing up the districts in a way that does not necessarily fairly represent the people who live in the state. This is known as gerrymandering.

Some states are worse then others as far as gerrymandering, but I think most experts would say that republican party has a history of extreme partisan gerrymandering, granted some states that lean democrat also engage in partisan gerrymandering.

Most Americans are moderate or left leaning. Urban and suburban areas tend to lean left as well. Redistricting/gerrymandering gives the R more votes and more representation. Example:
