For me if I watch Jp or Hitchens for instance it's to expand my vocabulary and adopt intellectual venacular. If I watch Sharpiro it's to see the leftists melt. Others because it broadens my grasp of particular subject.

When I watch Trump or Biden it's not because their speeches are inspiring and informative, but when they going to drop another meme.

But seriously though it is important to watch politicians. You can hear commentators say anything in the world, but what is actually happening is more important.

Shapiro peddles in outrage gotcha and that should be beneath him. I don't know anything about Jordan Peterson except that he cries and he's a recovering addict. He needs to focus on his own recovery before he worries about dispensing life advice.

If you want an intelligent, contemporary, conservative thinker, I'd recommend Thomas Sowell. Otherwise you're better off just reading the works of those who are dead (e.g. The History of the Peloponnesus War) and save yourself from the brain dead media circus.

i'd add sam harris. despite him becoming more and more of a sell-out in recent years, he's at least a genuinely intelligent person with original thoughts, interesting takes, and a solid understanding of philosophical concepts - and not just a hacky "owner" of rhetorically untrained college kids, peddler of fascist ideas sold as self-help for incels, dumb people's idea of a smart person, like shapiro, peterson, and the rest of the "intellectual dark web"...
