the IRS has agents that arrest people, when you deal with the type of people who refuse to pay taxes because they listened to Wesley Snipes accountant they're not the kind to just turn around and accept cuffs. You will carry a gun, and in some cases may be expected to use it, because you're a law enforcement officer working for the IRS.

Also if you know anything about IRS or Canada's equivalent CRA, you know that the bulk of the people you deal with are just stupid new graduates who know little about tax. They want to go home at 5 just like everyone else, supply them with the minimal information they typically need , they tick some checkboxes and you're done.

Be a dick, drag it out, it gets escalated to someone who does have some tax experience and suddenly you're under more scrutiny.
