Hello. I believe that the union between two people of the same sex cannot be called a true marriage, because marriage is commonly understood to mean the union between a man and a woman. So, we should use the term "civil union" to describe same sex unions.

Gays trying hard to force people to acknowledge same-sex "marriage" is simply an attempt to re-define the word marriage in the English language. They try to dictate to the rest of society what a word should mean and how to use it, just so that they can feel better about themselves. What's wrong with accepting the term civil union? As long as it carries the same legal and other benefits as marriage, there is no need to reject this term. But gays are simply not satisfied.

is the union between a man and a woman a "marriage" if one or two of them are infertile? should "marriage" require medical proof of fertility?
what about women after menopause? should they be able to legally "marry" still?
