they ran this game on Ross Perot in the 1990s. Perot was a political outsider that became a power player by fighting to cut the deficit. The establishment plan to defeat him was 1. Brand Perot as a kook. 2. steal his idea. So the GOP kept pushing a balanced budget amendment in the 1990s. Clinton ran a budget surplus. They pushed these ideas until the issue fell out of favor. Then the establishment went right back to running up crazy deficits again and Perot's cause was lost.

That's the plan for Trump. Brand Trump as a kook or some dangerous threat. Steal his ideas on the wall, prescription drug costs, America first. Wait for those ideas to fall out of favor, then tear the wall back down, let drugs prices skyrocket again, and ship ever more industry out of the US. Then all of those causes are lost.
