the $13 billion bill would make background checks stricter for young gun buyers, help to restrict domestic violence offenders from purchasing guns, enact red flag laws to smooth the process of seizing firearms from dangerous people and fund programs for mental health and school safety across the nation.

Stricter Background Checks for Younger Gun Buyers - what does that even mean
restrict domestic violence offenders from purchasing guns - "My boyfriend hit me, He can never own a gun"
enact red flag laws to smooth the process of seizing firearms from dangerous people - "My boyfriend said something weird go take his guns"
fund programs for mental health and school safety across the nation. - what does that even mean

Red Flag laws lead to shoot outs
Red Flag laws combined with no knock warrents lead to death

E- So what I've gathered,.. Never have a spouse or lover & never have children.

"I'm deeply worried about the court's willingness to take away from elected bodies the ability to protect our constituents and that has real grave implications for the safety of our country," - Senator Chris Murphy

I am deeply worried about the legislature's willingness to take away from the citizens the ability to protect themselves and that has greater real grave implications for the safety of our free state.

Meanwhile, my backwoods bar has a $1 rifle raffle going on now. :) Good chance at starter bolt action .308.

Fuck it - Perhaps we let them pass their idiotic and unconstitutional proposals through the legislature...perhaps we let them pass another AWB so the supreme court can overturn that shit and settle it for good lol. Over 20 million "Assault weapons" in common usage across the country nowadays..can't get away with a ban like they did in 94 with maybe 200k in circulation.

Funny thing is they fucked themselves with a double edged blade in terms of their desire to ban assault weapons..

First thing is that they popularized it and made it desirable due to a ten year ban...made the AR the most popular rifle platform in the country. Common ownership and usage is a giant factor in successful gun control. Full auto, SBS, SBR, etc...all not commonly owned like 'assault weapons' are now.

Second thing is that their entire argument is that these are "military style rifles" yet previous pro-gun control rulings have set a precedent that "effective military style weapons" are specifically what is protected, and that weapons not in common military usage are not necessarily protected (short barrel rifles and shotguns.) A primary factor in the court deciding that adding SBRs and SBS' to the NFA was their (incorrect) determination that those weapons were not seen in common warfare.

I would think it hilarious if those rulings came back to bite them and were overturned - their justifications are no longer valid (and likely not valid even at the time of the ruling) - It is known that both short barreled shotguns and rifles are in common military use around the world, and are quite effective. SBRS undeniably.
