The org that manages swimming have decided to create a separate more inclusive category for swimmers. As an ally to the lgbtqiabbq++ community i support this. May this restore sanity to the sport of swimming, inshallah brothers

Swimming's world governing body voted to restrict the participation of transgender athletes in women's events and will look into creating an "open competition" category in a membership vote on Sunday.

FINA members voted 71.5% in favor of a policy that requires transgender swimmers to have completed their transition by age 12 to be able to compete, per the Associated Press. There are 152 national federations with voting rights. The vote applies to all events beginning on Monday. Part of the 24-page policy was a proposal for an "open competition" category.

"I do not want any athlete to be told they cannot compete at the highest level," FINA president Husain Al-Musallam said. The organization said it is setting up "a new working group that will spend the next six months looking at the most effective ways to set up this new category," per the AP.

Good decision by FINA.

On a side note, why there is someone named Husain Al-Musallam running an International "Swimming" Organization... is beyond me.
Swimming is not exactly a middle East sport. LOL

Even pre-puberty can be an advantage (ie: lungs capacy) and some others factors during fetus developpment.
So this means that those above 12, which is like what... 99% of trans... will have to compete with "full males".

You are mixing up your terms. A "transgender woman" is still a "full male". Here, courtesy of Google:

Male: of or denoting the sex that produces small, typically motile gametes, especially spermatozoa, with which a female may be fertilized or inseminated to produce offspring.

Removing the ability to produce sperm doesn't make a male any less male, nor does it make them a female. They're still a "full male" but have merely been mutilated.

We get that your social construct of "Transgender" requires that you muddy the definition of "Men" and "Women". But male and female are hard scientific terms, and your post is anti-science.

Yeah. But it could be anyone NOT of the US.
I think it would make more sense if it was a country that produced... swimmers. :)

"open category" or the losers that can't compete in their own. Am I understanding this correctly?
